We want all our participants to have fun, be safe and improve their fitness.
We need you to come prepared and be able to enjoy the sessions and have put together a list of questions and answers which will help you:
How fit do you need to be
As a cancer patient, you need to be 3 months post initial treatment
Who will be coaching us
The course will be run by a qualified coach, who will have a team of volunteers to help out, where necessary, with different aspects of the course:
- Coxing
- Manourvering the boats
- Land Training
- Teas, Coffee and cake
Do I need to be able to Swim?
Yes, we need you to be able to swim 200m and be happy being around water.
How safe is rowing?
All participants will be given a safety brief.
The club has both safety and welfare officers who ensure that the river conditions are safe for all standards to row in and the welfare officer ensures that the welfare of all members is looked after.
What to wear and bring with you:
You need to wear clothes, which are comfortable to wear and you are able to move about in.
We recommend wearing layers of clothes which are suitable for the weather conditions:
- T-shirt
- Lightweight Fleece
- Leggings/track suit
- Lightweight waterproof clothing
- Trainers or flat shoes.
- Wellies,
- A change of clothing and a bottle of water for on the boat
